CSU Channel Islands employee tests positive for COVID-19
CAMARILLO, Calif. - California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) announced on Sunday that an employee of the university recently tested positive for COVID-19.
CSUCI said the employee was on campus in the last 14 days but is now in self-isolation at their home.
Due to personal privacy laws, CSUCI is unable to release the identity of the ill employee and asks that their right to privacy be respected.
However, an investigation is being conducted and anyone who had close contact with the employee has been contacted and told to self-isolate and monitor themselves for symptoms.
CSUCI said the infected person was a non-sworn University Police employee. They were on campus May 6 through 9 and worked in the Police Department located in Placer Hall.
The university reported that, as part of the campus’ ongoing COVID-related operations to regularly clean areas, the Police Department has been
thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis.
If you believe that you may have visited CSUCI’s Police Department on May 6 through 9, you should watch for symptoms of respiratory illness such as fever, cough or shortness of breath.
However, the Ventura County Public Health Department wants to remind the public that, if you have not developed symptoms within 14 days of being exposed to the virus, it is unlikely that you will develop any after.
The CSUCI campus community was also notified of this positive case on Sunday and advised to contact the campus' Student Health Services at 805-
437-8828 or their personal healthcare provider if they notice any symptoms.
