Red Flag Warning issued October 17 at 1:52PM PDT until October 17 at 6:00PM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA

…RISK FOR RAPID FIRE GROWTH AND EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR CONTINUES
WITH ANY NEW FIRE STARTS TODAY, ESPECIALLY IN TARGETED RED FLAG
WARNING AREAS…

Offshore winds are not as strong or widespread as the past couple
of days, but will still create a risk for new fires to have rapid
growth in wind prone areas of LA/Ventura counties, as very warm
and dry conditions persist. While many areas have been cancelled
in the Red Flag Warning area, a few targeted Red Flag Warnings
persist where offshore winds are expected to remain strongest
through this afternoon.

* AFFECTED AREA…Santa Clarita Valley, Santa Susana Mountains
and Western San Gabriel Mountains and Highway 14 Corridor.

* TIMING…Until 6 PM PDT this evening.

* WINDS…Northeast to east 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 25 to 40
mph, gradually diminishing later this afternoon into evening.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…Minimums of 10 to 20 percent common.

* IMPACTS…If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable
for extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and
property.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. Use extreme caution
with anything that can spark a wildfire. Residents near wildland
interfaces should be prepared to evacuate if a wildfire breaks
out. See readyforwildfire.org and wildfirerisk.org for
information.
