Woman killed in afternoon Oxnard head-on crash

A fatal head-on collision involving a 2016 Hino flatbed work truck and a 2002 Mazda Portege occurred in Oxnard at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30.

A 33-year-old male driver in a pickup truck going southbound on Dafau Road in Oxnard attempted a left turn into a driveway crossing into the northbound lane. This resulted in a head-on crash with a 23-year-old woman in a 2002 Mazda Portege. The reasons for the attempted left turn is unknown, according to authorities.

The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Her identity has not yet been released until her family is notified.

Police said that the male driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to St. John’s Hospital.

The drivers were the only occupants inside the vehicles at the time of the crash, according to CHP. The incident is under investigation by the Ventura CHP Office
