Police officer hospitalized after Santa Barbara crash

A veteran Santa Barbara Police officer has been hospitalized after an accident in downtown Santa Barbara Monday afternoon.

Photos show Officer Scott Naganuma on a stretcher following a crash at the intersection of De La Vina and Figueroa Streets.

Police told NewsChannel 3 the officer suffered minor injuries after being side swiped by a vehicle. The driver of the car was fined according to police. The officer’s motorcycle was located nearby on its side.

Police temporarily closed down a limited area near the scene of the collision as part of their investigation. The officer’s condition has not been released.

SBPD Officer Naganuma has over 27 years with the department and is a veteran motorcycle traffic officer.
