Quilt of resilience on display at Santa Barbara Public Library
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.– The Society of Fearless Grandmothers Santa Barbara's Roots of Resilience quilt will be on display at Santa Barbara Public Library Faulkner Gallery for the entire month of October.
The quilt was was made by 30 local women who crafted the tree of life motif for Earth Day this year. The one on display is a larger version collaboration pulled together by the group in a little over a month.
According to the society each layer was made with an intention from the roots symbolizing the values needed to protect our environment to the leaves that represent action already being taken in the local community against climate change.
"Our hope is that people looking at the quilt will consider what they love, what kind of future they want to build, and how they can use their skills and talents to help regenerate our environment and our communities."
The quilt will be featured in a special event at the library on Thursday for those that wish to join.
