Santa Barbara County Foodbank returns to in-person cooking and other educational classes for youth
SOLVANG, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Foodbank is gearing up to reopen its after school cooking classes for youth.
Kids are now cooking up a storm.
"These guys are absolutely trying different Types of foods and different recipes," said cooking instructor Richard Bresslin of the Santa Barbara County Foodbank.
As they chop away colorful veggies, some are even discovering new tastes.
"Some of them are just like ew … I don’t want to taste it … and then they taste it … and they go oh my goodness. That’s so good," said Bresslin.
"After being shut down for nearly a year, the Santa Barbara County fFodbank is excited to reopen its nutrition education to kids," said community programs coordinator Monica Buenrostro of the Santa Barbara County Foodbank.
Organizers hope to continue showing kids how to make healthy meals like zucchini pasta.
Any organization serving kids preschool through grade 8 can partner with the foodbank to host these cooking classes.
As the new academic year kicks in, instructors with the foodbank's cooking classes are looking forward to a full roster of educational activities.
