Masato Perera wins CIF-SS Boys Individual Tennis Tournament and makes San Marcos school history

San Marcos High School standout Masato Perera wins the CIF-SS Boys Individual Tennis Tournament.

SEAL BEACH, Calif. - Masato Perera is number one!

He is the first San Marcos High School student-athlete to ever win a CIF-Southern Section Individual Tennis Tournament.

Perera defeated Alex Michelson of Aliso Niguel in the finals 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Earlier in the day Perera beat Kane Kelley of Chaminade in the semifinals 6-2, 6-2.

After the finals Masato Perera was honored for being one of 40 National All-Americans for high school players.

He was named MVP in Southern California.

The ceremony took place at the Newport Beach Yacht Club.

Perera will be a senior in the fall at San Marcos High School.
