Former Porn Star School District Firing Upheld

By a unanimous vote a state law panel upheld the Oxnard School District’s decision to fire a former porn star.Stacie Halas was teaching science at Haydock Intermediate School in Oxnard when she was terminated last Spring. It happened shortly after students discovered Halas starring as Tiffiny Six in x-rated films online. The panel ruled that Halas was unfit to teach because of her repeated dishonesty and her decision to appear in porn films while she was a teaching assistant and substitute teacher in nearby districts.Halas and her attorney could not be reached for comment, but they may choose to appeal the case.Halas could also file a civil case.Oxnard School District Superintendent Jeff Chancer says he is pleasantly surprised by the decision. The district issued the following statement:By a unanimous vote, a three-person state administrative law panel upheld the decision of the Oxnard School District (OSD) to terminate the employment of teacher Stacie Halas, a former porn star. The Commission on Professional Competence ruled that Ms. Halas was “unfit for service” as a teacher because of her dishonesty and decision to appear in pornographic films while she was serving at intervals as a student teacher and a substitute teacher and for repeatedly lying about it to her employer. “The District is pleased that this situation has been resolved and that our rationale for terminating Ms. Halas from her teaching position, has been validated by the legal process,” said OSD Superintendent Jeff Chancer. “We argued persuasively that her decision to engage in pornography was incompatible with her responsibilities as a role model for students and would present an insurmountable, recurring disruption to our schools should she be allowed to remain as a teacher. The panel also agreed that Ms. Halas’ repeated dishonesty is evidence of her being unfit to serve as a teacher.” The panel concluded: “Although (Halas’) pornography career has concluded, the ongoing availability of her pornographic materials on the internet will continue to impede from her from being an effective teacher and respected colleague. More concerning was her character for dishonesty, continuing even into her sworn testimony, which invalidated her arguments of reformation. While (Halas) failed to establish that she can be trusted as a role model for children or an example of redemption, the circumstances of this case most certainly demonstrate that one’s decisions and conduct, particularly continual deceit, must bring with them certain consequences.” Tracy LehrShare your comments about this story with us on the KEY News Facebook page.
