Monday evening forecast June 7th
Below average temperatures and low clouds, with a slight chance of drizzle will remain through Tuesday. Expect a gradual warming pattern to start Wednesday and continue into early next week, with decreasing low clouds. As temperatures rise some areas could reach up to 10 degrees above average early next week. Gusty onshore winds will continue across interior valleys trough Tuesday, then shifting northwest late Tuesday across southern Santa Barbara County.
Due to a weak system near Los Angeles County this has prompted plenty of high clouds. This low will shift east into Nevada as we go into Tuesday although the air mass will keep the area cool. This means Tuesday should bring a little more sunshine under weaker onshore flow. A weak to moderate sundowner wind event will be likely into Tuesday, at this time no advisories have been issued.
A strong ridge is centered over northern, Mexico and is expected to expand across southwest U.S. on Wednesday while a trough parks over the Pacific Northwest. Due to this activity pressure gradients will tighten causing for breezy to gusty winds mid-week. At this time the strongest winds will likely impact southern Santa Barbara County, with potential for advisories.
The warming trend will continue in our local area through early next week. As the ridge of high pressure is expected to shift near Arizona by Monday. This will allow temperatures to reach 10 degrees above average, mainly across the interior valleys and mountains. Daytime highs could warm between 95 to 105 degrees. While coastal areas will be dependent on the marine layer for any sense of relief.
