Traffic clogged as drivers line up for Dutch Bros Coffee Grand Opening
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Ask and you shall receive.
"I’m getting hot chocolate," screams customer Jan Jueper at Dutch Bros Coffee.
As soon as the new Dutch Brothers Coffee opened at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, drivers lined up all the way around the block.
"I’m excited because I love coffee," says customer Mae Peters.
While customers were excited to get their coffee, the lines backed up traffic near Broadway causing frustration among some drivers.
"I couldn’t even come in the parking lot right now because they’re coming through here to get their coffee," says driver Jesus Santiago.
Several officers with the Santa Maria Police Department were called in to help manage the heavy traffic.
"You could see it’s a little backed up but that’s to be expected to a grand opening you have a new store and people are excited and we’re here to just make sure that that it’s not backed up on Broadway," says Sgt. Mike McGehee with the Santa Maria Police Department.
The drive through-only coffee shop chain will be open every day at 5:00 a.m.
As for customers, some say they're coming back for more coffee, even if it means waiting in long lines.
"I hope you guys stay here forever," says Peters.
