Lompoc Unified School District to provide free Wi-Fi for students

LOMPOC, Calif. -- Lompoc Unified School District announced Monday it will provide free Wi-Fi for students.

The district will work with Primo Energy, Lokket and AMB on the project. Installation will begin next week, according to a news release from the district.

The project will create a Wi-Fi net that will cover the city of Lompoc as well as the unincorporated areas of Mission Hills, Mesa Oaks and Vandenberg Village.

Lompoc Unified said it worked with the City of Lompoc to ensure the installation would not interfere with the City’s emergency services.

“We are very excited to provide free Wi-Fi to our families. Unreliable internet service can add to the frustrations of distance learning. Having a stable, free service for all LUSD students is huge!” Lompoc Unified Superintendent Trevor McDonald.

This free Wi-Fi service is not contingent on distance learning and will be available to our students for many years to come.

"Our goal is to have the free Wi-Fi service up and going for all students by Thanksgiving,” said Bree Valla Deputy Superintendent. “We will continue to update the community through the LUSD website, Community Transmittals, social media and more.”
