COVID shield helps Santa Barbara man keep a well rounded distance
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - When it comes to spacing during the coronavirus pandemic, Michael Bell has created his own defense with a shield made from an old Earth Day prop.
Bell says the unit over his head and around his body is part of the globe, with some sections taken off.
He has slots for sanitizers, toilet paper and a grabber to receive drinks at a distance.
"This is for grabbing a beer," he said. "And this has a black light on the end of it so it decontaminates the glass by the time I get it. "
Bell says on the outside of his dome, he has small COVID blossom designs similar to what you see in coronavirus graphics as yet another way to ward off people from getting too close.
He was recently seen strolling State Street in downtown Santa Barbara.
