Excessive heat warning in effect to start Labor Day holiday weekend

A brutal heat wave begins Friday and through Labor Day weekend. Areas away from the coast will be hot on Friday before a significant rise in highs is anticipated over the weekend. Record breaking highs are likely Saturday and Sunday. Along with very warm overnight lows through Monday. This will lead to high risk for heat illnesses and concern of heightened fire weather.

The National Weather Service predicts the 4 day heat wave to be deadly. An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect across the interior valleys and mountains until Monday evening. Coastal areas will experience the heat wave beginning Saturday morning until Monday evening.

The ridge of high pressure will continue to strengthen and produce a very warm air mass. With the hottest day on tap likely on Sunday. Labor Day weekend temperatures along the coast will warm in the 80s, 90s to 100s possible. Inland temperatures 100 to 115 degrees, with overnight lows in the 70s to 80s.
