Cannabis regulations, taxes, an enforcement update headed to Santa Barbara Supervisors

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Several aspects of the cannabis industry in Santa Barbara County will be detailed to the Board of Supervisors at Tuesday's meeting.

This will include current licenses, permit expiration dates, taxes and enforcement.

The three areas with the most acreage are the Lompoc Valley, the Santa Ynez Valley and the Carpinteria Valley.

Santa Barbara County has the second highest number of active cannabis licenses in the state.

The industry has strong success in the county but some residents are concerned about noise and other impacts from trucks, and odors.

Residents have raised on going issues about the quality of life near faming operations.

Operators say overall many are investing in control systems for the odors, they have upgraded security and are contributing to the local economy with jobs and taxes.
