Judge grants modifications to Oxnard gang ruling

VENTURA, Calif. - A Ventura judge made changes to an order to enforce harder restrictions on active gang leaders in Oxnard on Wednesday.

The Ventura County District Attorney's Office said Judge Kent Kellegrew granted a motion to amend two Oxnard gang injunctions.

These amendments will allow the Oxnard Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office to enforce the injunctions against the most active gang leaders once again.

The changes will allow judicial officers to decide which activities the active gang members will not be allowed to do.

District Attorney Gregory D. Totten said, “The gang injunctions have proven to be an effective tool for law enforcement in minimizing the criminal activities of Oxnard’s most violent and active gang members.”

The District Attorney's Office said prohibited activities include associating with other known gang members, witness intimidation, possessing firearms or using gang gestures.
