Air quality alert issued for Nipomo Mesa and Oceano Dunes

Air Quality

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - The San Luis County Air Pollution Control District says strong, gusty winds are creating harmful air quality conditions in the Nipomo Mesa and Oceano Dunes areas.

SLO County APCD says the deteriorating air quality could continue through next Monday.

APCD says the peak of blowing dust and sand is in the afternoon hours and is urging all children and adults, especially those with respiratory and heart conditions to avoid outdoor activities and remain indoors as much as possible.

The Oceano Dunes OHVRA and campground remains closed to vehicle access.

Beach access and trails at the Dunes State Park remain open to local residents with safe, physical distancing of at least six feet.
