Santa Maria approves possible retail use for former Costco building
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Santa Maria City Council approved a zoning code amendment Tuesday evening that allows for expanded retail use in the old Costco building.
According to their Twitter, the new zoning code amendment will allow for the building to be used for a full range of retail possibilities while also maintaining the possibility for light industrial use.
This vote comes after city council approved a proposed zoning change for the Costco building back in February.
The 130,000 square foot building has been vacant since Costco moved to the Enos Ranch development in September 2017.
This zoning amendment does not affect any other businesses near the former Costco building including Trader Joes, BevMo! and Michaels.
