The City of Santa Maria will provide 100 percent of the water supply from the groundwater basin. There will be a difference in the water because of an increased "hardness and mineral content."
Starting on Monday, November 11th, the city will flush water from fire hydrants at dead-end streets throughout the city. Flushing will keep the water lines clean and prolong the life of the City's water system. Water in these areas may be discolored. The water is not harmful. To get rid of the discoloration, running an outside faucet will help clear the property water line.
The city says the inconvenience is temporary and cannot be avoided.
