Residents help injured driver after rollover accident in Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Residents ran out of their homes Tuesday night about 11:30 p.m. when they heard a loud crash on lower Bath Street and found a car upside down.
The driver was still inside and hurt.
The neighbors rolled the car on its side to help the driver out.
Santa Barbara police and firefighters were on the scene in moments.
The Ford Mustang came off Highway 101 Northbound at the Bath Street exit, clipped the front of a parked car and rolled over.
The extent of injuries was unclear, and the driver was transported by AMR to Cottage Hospital.
The vehicle was leaking fluids. Fire crews spread some absorbent to clean that up. There was also an area with broken glass and some pieces of the damaged car.
The off-ramp was closed about an hour by the California Highway Patrol until the area was clear and the on-call tow truck picked up the mashed vehicle.
The cause remains under investigation.
Police went to Cottage Hospital after the accident to talk to the driver and determine if any form of impairment was involved.
