Tracking Santa Ana winds & fire risk this weekend

Watch temperatures soar as high pressure parks over the Central Coast. Expect highs to quickly rise to 80s with minimal fog. Winds were strong last night and will be even more of a nuisance this evening. Some gusts could reach 40mph or greater. No Wind Advisories are in place now, however some may pop up. A Red Flag Warnings was issued for inland portions of Ventura County. Fire risk is heightened tonight through Saturday night. This is when our peak Santa Ana winds occur as well. Luckily, temperatures overnight provide some heat relief. A Coastal Flood Advisory and Beach Hazard Statement have been issued for all beaches. Rip currents may be strong and localized flooding is possible. Use caution.

Peak heating and wind gusts are projected Saturday. This is when fire weather risks will be critical. Practice fire safety and have a go bag ready. Winds will be strong enough to blow debris in roadways, and tople outside furniture so plan accordingly. Skies will be mostly sunny and temperatres reach mid 80s for Ventura. Expect lower 80s at northern beaches and in Santa Barbra County.

We stay hot through the middle of next week. The only day to day differences will be how strong our Santa Ana winds are. Be mindful of the high waves and rip currents at the beaches as well.
