Local Business Builds 90 Teddy Bears for Critically Ill Children in Goleta

GOLETA, Calif. (KEYT) — A volunteer project in Goleta is bringing local workers together to support families facing a medical crisis.

Employees at Seek Thermal are stepping away from their usual jobs to build teddy bears for local families.

“I’ve got a stuffed dog here and a lot of games so these will go to kids that could use some stuffed animals,” said Dave Henderson, a Seek Thermal employee.

Workers are making 90 bears for Hearts Aligned.

The nonprofit supports Santa Barbara County families caring for critically ill children.

“It’s great I feel very fortunate that we can be able to help these children in need and lucky to get back to the community,” said Seek Thermal employee Jordyn Bittner.

“Hearing the stories how much it meant to them is just wonderful. The families are going to be so delighted,” said Vivian Solodkin, founder and executive director of Hearts Aligned.

The bears are assembled by hand before they are donated to the nonprofit.

A few hours of work here will eventually reach families across Santa Barbara County.

“It’s been awesome to have our whole company here and all working together and working in teams. It’s been really fun,” said Bittner.

The team hopes these bears will offer a little reassurance when families need it most.
