Lompoc Man With Multiple Warrants Arrested After Being Tracked By Officers and A Drone

LOMPOC, Calif. (KEYT) – A wanted 19-year-old Lompoc man was located and eventually arrested with the help of officers on the ground and a drone above Wednesday afternoon.

On Sep. 16, around 12:03 p.m., officers spotted a 19-year-old with three outstanding bench warrants for failure to appear for a court proceeding riding as a passenger in a vehicle at a local gas station stated a press release from the Lompoc Police Department.

A drone pilot was informed of the situation and followed the vehicle until it stopped outside of a home in the 500 block of of North B Street and the 19-year-old exited and began walking towards the residence detailed the local law enforcement agency.

An officer arrived and ordered the Lompoc man to stop, but he quickly walked away, hopped a fence and was lost after he entered the backyard of a nearby residence explained the Lompoc Police Department.

Minutes later, as officers entered the alleyway behind the backyard and the drone operator shared real time updates with officers, the 19-year-old came back, jumped back over the fence and was taken into custody by officers shared the Lompoc Police Department.

According to Lompoc Police, the 19-year-old was booked on his outstanding warrants as well as resisting arrest and possession of narcotics for sale.
