Allan Hancock College Formally Welcomes Cal Poly Business Bachelor Students

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (KEYT) - Cal Poly and Allan Hancock College are holding a kickoff reception in Santa Maria this afternoon. 

They’re celebrating the launch of the Cal Poly Business Administration Bachelor's Pathway Program.

The event, held at the Fine Arts Upstairs Terrace at Allan Hancock College, welcomed the business pathway's inaugural cohort while recognizing the ongoing sociology pathway.

These partnership programs allow students to earn Cal Poly bachelor's degrees by taking university coursework directly at Allan Hancock College's Santa Maria campus.

Courses are offered in flexible formats structured to support students who are balancing their education with work, family and other personal commitments.

Attending faculty, staff, leaders, inaugural business administration students and returning sociology students from both institutions say this partnership between colleges will open a lot of doors for students who live in Santa Maria or surrounding areas.

Students enrolled in the pathways are classified as Cal Poly students.

As part of the university, they have access to Cal Poly academic advising, library resources, career support and university services, in addition to select resources through Allan Hancock College. 

Kevin Walthers, superintendent and president of Allan Hancock College and Al Liddicoat, provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs at Cal Poly will be overseeing the celebration.

The programs aim to prepare participants for careers in business, public service and related sectors.
