Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Southbound Highway 101 Tuesday Evening

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – A 67-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday night after walking into traffic on southbound Highway 101.

On Aug. 25, around 6:31 p.m., dispatchers began receiving calls about a crash involving a pedestrian on southbound Highway 101 near W. Main Street stated a press release Wednesday from the California Highway Patrol-Ventura Area (CHP).

According to the CHP, an initial investigation revealed that a 47-year-old Thousand Oaks man was driving a Ford F-250 southbound on Highway 101, north of W. Main Street, as a 67-year-old man was standing on the right shoulder of the roadway.

For reasons still under investigation, the 67-year-old stepped into lanes of traffic and the Ford collided with him, causing major injuries noted the CHP.

The man was later declared dead at the scene shared the CHP.

It is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the fatal collision, but the investigation remains open stated the CHP.
