Oxnard man charged for murder in deadly shooting

An Oxnard man was charged with the murder of an Oxnard resident during a deadly shooting last week.

Jaime Villarreal, 43, of Oxnard appeared in court Wednesday and was charged for the murder of Raymond Delval, 40, in a shooting on August 31.

The shooting took place on the 1000 block of Berkshire Street at around 11:30 p.m. Officers found Delval inside a home with a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers tried to save his life, but he died at the scene. Witnesses inside the house identified Villarreal as the shooter.

The complaint charged Villarreal with one count of murder and a special allegation that a gun was personally used during the commission of the crime.

Villarreal appeared in court Wednesday with the arraignment continuing on September 26 in Ventura County Superior Court.

Villarreal is currently in custody with bail set at $1,050,000.
