Fog and breezy for now, but a warm up is not too far away in the forecast, June 24th

Another beautiful day with plenty of sunshine for all areas despite the marine layer for the late night and early morning hours. We do currently have a Wind Advisory in effect for the Gaviota and Pt. Conception region. Winds from the north and northwest could exceed 45 mph or more especially below passes and canyons. The advisory will last through very early Sunday morning. Patchy overnight fog is expected for most of the coast with the exception of southern Santa Barbara County and maybe as well portions of Ventura County depending on if the northerly winds hold through the night. Overnight lows will be mostly in the 50's and Sunday's highs should top out in the 60's to about 70 degrees near the coast. Inland areas will likely warm in to the upper 70'd and lower 80's.

Looking ahead, a couple more weak systems will push toward the West Coast through bout mid week. This means more of the familiar pattern of varying marine layer clouds competing with the breezy and sunny northwest winds. Temperatures will stay cool to mild along the coast while inland areas stay warmer, but really not too bad for this time of year. A large and strong are of high pressure, located to our southeast is expected to strengthen significantly by the second of next week and drift toward the West Coast. This will likely bring some significant warming for inland areas as we head toward the last few days of June. We may even see heat watches as temperatures go above normal after being below normal for muih of June. The good news is that our coast will see the classic thermal inversion pattern develop as the heat envelopes inland areas. That means, coastal fog and heat relief will be readily available along our local beaches. Enjoy the mild weather for now because a Summer heat wave appears to be on the horizon.
