SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Cole Schoenwetter got the money he wanted and the recent San Marcos High School graduate signs with the Cincinnati Reds for a 1.9 million dollar bonus.

Schoenwetter was a fourth round pick in the 2023 Major League Draft earlier this month and he signs for almost three-times the draft slot of being the 105th overall pick.

He had the option of pitching for UCSB but Schoenwetter was ready to turn pro and now he is expected to head to Goodyear, Arizona and report to the Reds rookie-affiliate.

Schoenwetter led the Royals to a third straight Channel League title this past year and the program advanced to their first CIF-SS championship game appearance.
