SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A gym is not simply a place to lift weights, at least not for Austin Ekeler.

The Los Angeles Chargers running back said that it was at his high school gym that he learned valuable life lessons about working hard, mental toughness and how to work as a team.

Ekeler shared this message to several student-athletes that were on hand for the Santa Barbara High School Weight Room Dedication that the Austin Ekeler Foundation provided for the Dons.

Along with donations from Sonos, Hutton Parker Foundation and Perform Better, the Austin Ekeler Foundation has created a brand new state-of-the-art gym located under Peabody Stadium.

This is the first project by the Austin Ekeler Foundation which is devoted to create opportunities for people to fulfill their passions and lives.

Ekeler made the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Western Colorado University.
