Dons baseball celebrates 7-3 win over rival San Marcos.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Dons baseball team created a little breathing room in the Channel League race with a 7-3 win over San Marcos.

Santa Barbara now leads the league at 8-0 while the Royals drop to 6-2 and into a second place tie with Dos Pueblos.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Santa Barbara got a huge break when they scored 3 runs on an error.

With the bases loaded and two outs Jack Holland's pop-up was dropped and the bases cleared on the miscue.

The Dons added another run in the inning on an rbi single by Sam Russell.

Santa Barbara pitcher Juan Perez worked 4.1 innings and worked out of a key bases-loaded one out jam in the first inning.

The Dons are now 2-0 versus the Royals this year and the two teams meet again on Friday, May 7 at San Marcos.
