LONG BEACH, Calif. - Struggling through its start to conference play, UC Santa Barbara men's basketball came out with perhaps its best performance against a Big West opponent so far this season.

The Gauchos used a 55-point second half to finish off a strong effort on the road, winning 87-62 at Long Beach State on Saturday.

Matt Freeman made six three-pointers and led the Gauchos with 24 points. Amadou Sow added 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Max Heidegger overcame a slow start to finish one rebound shy of a triple-double (14 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds).

UCSB (14-8, 3-4) will host Hawaii at the Thunderdome on Thursday night.
