Moorpark Man Dies After Single-Vehicle Crash At Westlake Boulevard Off-Ramp Thursday

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KEYT) – A 21-year-old Moorpark man died after a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Highway 101.

On Aug. 13, around 5:58 a.m., dispatchers received a call about a solo-vehicle crash on the Westlake Boulevard off-ramp off southbound Highway 101 stated a press release from the California Highway Patrol-Moorpark Area (CHP).

Arriving first responders found an unresponsive man, later identified as a 21-year-old Moorpark resident, trapped in the driver seat of a 2008 Honda hatchback detailed the CHP.

An initial investigation revealed the Honda was traveling southbound on Highway 101 at an unknown speed when the driver, who was alone in the vehicle, lost control of the hatchback which traveled onto the right shoulder of the off-ramp before going down and embankment and colliding with a tree detailed the CHP.

As a result of the collision, the driver sustained fatal injuries and the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene shared the CHP.

According to the CHP, southbound traffic was able to continue despite the fatal incident and all lanes of Highway 101 were reopened by 10 a.m. Thursday.
