Chatsworth man arrested after using tracking tool to locate and confront Camarillo woman

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – A 54-year-old Chatsworth man was arrested on multiple charges after he used a tracking device attached to a Camarillo woman's vehicle to track and confront her.

On April 2, around 5:58 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 5200 block of Mission Oaks Boulevard for a domestic disturbance stated a press release from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office issued Wednesday of this week.

Deputies arrived to find that a 54-year-old Chatsworth man used his vehicle to block a Camarillo woman's vehicle in a parking lot and she had fled to a nearby business detailed the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The woman shared that she knew the man and he had been stalking her noted the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

An investigation resulted in deputies finding a tracking device attached to the underside of the Camarillo woman's vehicle and a search of the Chatsworth man's vehicle revealed a loaded firearm and additional evidence shared the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The 54-year-old was booked on the following charges:

  • PC 236-False Imprisonment
  • PC 637.7(a)-Unlawful Use of a Tracking Device
  • PC 27545-Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm
  • PC 25850-Carrying a Loaded Firearm
  • PC 29800(a)(1)-Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • PC 30305(a)(1)-Felon in Possession of Ammunition

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office noted that the Chatsworth man remains in custody with bail set at $500,000 and the investigation into the incident remains open.
