Over 500 grams of fentanyl discovered after short car chase Tuesday in Camarillo

CAMARILLO, Calif. – Camarillo Patrol Officers with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office discovered about 530 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop after a short car chase in Camarillo on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, an off-duty member of the Ventura County Fentanyl and Overdose Crimes Units (VCFOCUS), a regional law enforcement task force, called Sheriff's dispatch about a reckless driver in the 2300 block of Las Posas Road detail Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

According to Ventura County Sheriff's Office, patrol deputies located the vehicle heading west on Las Posas Road and a brief chase ensued after deputies attempted a traffic stop.

The chase ended after several miles and the 49-year-old Santa Paula resident driving was arrested for evading law enforcement detail Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found about 530 grams of fentanyl in the trunk of the car and fentanyl in that amount is considered indicative of narcotic sales and trafficking explain Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

According to Ventura County Sheriff's Office, the man was arrested for violations of the Health and Safety Code 11351 and Vehicle Code 2800.1(a).
