Ventura County bars given green light to stay open later

Senerey De Los Santos / KEYT

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - Bars and other establishments that serve alcohol in Ventura County can stay open until 11 p.m. thanks to updated guidelines from the county public health department.

Ventura County Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin issued updated health officer order which cleared the way for the establishments to remain open later.

Prior to the health order, bars, pubs, brewpubs, breweries, wineries, wine tasting rooms and other establishments that serve alcohol on-premises were required to close at 10 p.m.

Under current State health orders these establishments can provide services outdoors, but bars and breweries must serve outdoor dine-in meals in order to serve alcohol. Wineries and vineyard are not required to serve food.

The order went into effect Tuesday morning and will remain until it is either modified or rescinded.
