VENTURA, Calif. -- Ventura City Fire Department rescued a dog whose paw was stuck in a sink drain on Friday afternoon in Ventura.

Ventura City Fire responded to a report of an animal in distress at around 1:57 pm at Todd Ranch in Ventura.

Crews arrived on scene with one engine, one support engine and one command.

At arrival, they discovered a small dog with her paw trapped in a kitchen sink drain.

Firefighters removed the drain from the sink with the dog's paw still stuck inside.

A medic truck was dispatched for specialized tools to cut the metal away from the paw and prevent further injury to the dog.

The dog was then moved to a veterinarian hospital to be sedated and not cause it any further pain.

The drain was cut off the dog's paw and she is currently recovering from anesthesia.
