CSUCI welcomes check for child care center

Child Care check

CAMARILLO, Calif. (KEYT)

Cal State University Channel Islands is celebrating funding for a child care center on campus.

Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin made the announcement while speaking at the first ever “Channel your Network” event on Friday.

Irwin presented a state check for $5-million to the CSUCI President Erika Beck.

The money will go along way in helping parents finish their degrees.

CSUCI student and parent Kenna Allman said, “A childcare center at Cal State Channel Islands would mean hope for so many other moms, because as moms we sacrifice so much, but sometimes it comes at the cost of our education. With this addition to the school we will not have to feel that way.”

The child care center is still in the preliminary stages, but it will eventually become a reality.
