THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Ventura County has two new young women representing the community.  The Miss Ventura County and Miss Ventura County Outstanding Teen competition took place Sunday night at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.   The majority of the candidates score comes from the talent portion and interview portion of the competition.

Emcee Kelsey Gerckens caught up with the new title holders after the event.

"Well I've been dreaming about this for years. So for it to actually be happening I don't believe it. My hope is to be able to pour into my community in ways I never have before", said the newly crowned Miss Ventura County Outstanding Teen, Megan Campbell Smith.

"I'm really excited to get started and working on my platform and expanding it to Ventura County. It's helping hands for the homeless and I really want to make a difference here," said Miss Ventura County 2020, Nikitha Lakshminarayanan.

Miss Ventura County will compete for Miss California this summer. The winner of that vies for the title of Miss America.
