Tanker truck full of bleach overturns in Oceano
OCEANO, Calif. - A semi tanker truck carrying bleach overturned near Creek Road in Oceano after taking a corner too fast.
California Highway Patrol, CAL FIRE and the San Luis Obispo County Fire Hazardous Materials Team responded to the incident which occurred around 12:25 p.m. on Thursday.
It appears the truck was trying to turn onto Creek Road from Silver Spur Place when it rolled over.
CAL FIRE said in a tweet that the emergency crews are working with the vehicle's owner to mitigate the hazard.
It is unclear if any bleach was spilled.
As of about 3:15 p.m., CAL FIRE reported the tanker was stabilized.
The offloading truck arrived around 5:20 p.m. Crews worked to drill holes in the fallen tanker in order to offload the bleach into the new truck.
CAL FIRE said this process was 90% complete around 7 p.m. The fallen tanker has been raised back onto its tires. The bleach is almost completely moved over to the new tanker.
There are no evacuations planned at this time.
California Highway Patrol said there were no injuries as a result of this crash. The tanker truck was the only vehicle involved.
