CHP makes 491 DUI arrests over New Year’s Day enforcement period

LOS ANGELES - As the ball dropped on another year, impaired drivers were a huge concern for the California Highway Patrol.

CHP stepped up its efforts to catch DUI drivers over a 30-hour period around the New Year's Holiday.

The law enforcement agency says they made hundreds of arrests during the holiday enforcement effort.

491 DUI arrests were made by CHP officers across the state, nearly an arrest every four minutes.

Specific numbers for our local counties have not yet been released.
