All-access tour into SoFi Stadium, the new home of the Rams and Chargers
INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Five billion dollars has sure bought an incredible stadium for the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers.
SoFi Stadium is the largest venue in the NFL at over three million square feet.
It has the biggest video board in sports.
Known as Oculus, the video board is 120 yards long, that's 20 yards longer than the football field.
SoFi is the first NFL indoor/outdoor venue.
The roof is made up of a translucent, plastic film that allows natural light in but will keep the rain out.
There are openings on the side of the stadium that will allow a breeze into the facility.
The field actually sits 100 feet below the street surface to accommodate the LAX flight path.
But landscape inside the stadium entrance known as the Canyons, provides a seamless transition from the parking lot to the field level so it doesn't feel like one is going underground or down a tunnel.
SoFi Stadium will hold just over 70,000 fans for football and can expand to 100,000 for other events.
There are over 13,000 premier seats including a field level cabana area, a beach club and 260 club suites.
The Executive Club located on the second level has a champagne bar, a whiskey bar, a tequila bar and a wine bar.
Upper deck seats are stacked so they are much closer to the field than those seats were at the LA Coliseum.
Both the Rams and Chargers have separate locker rooms and different tunnels in which they will enter the playing field.
Much of the outside is still under construction but there will be an entertainment complex with a music venue, a hotel, movie theaters, restaurants and it will be the home of the NFL Network.
There will also be condominiums and office spaces.
SoFi Stadium will be closed to fans to start the NFL season due to Covid-19.
The first event will be the LA Rams-Dallas Cowboys game Sunday, September 13.
