Social media platforms become the new cyber scammer’s goldmine

SANTA MARIA, Calif-- Has someone ever messaged you on your social media platforms on how to invest money to become rich?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reported social media became the number one place where scammers acquired most of their revenue.

The FTC says in 2021, 95,000 people reported they lost $770 million dollars in social media-based fraud losses.

A Santa Maria woman fell victim to a scam on Instagram.

She lost thousands of dollars through fraudulent investments.

Now, she is seeking help from authorities and CNC Intelligence.

CNC Intelligence is a private investigator that focuses on cyber fraud.
