Santa Barbara County Public Works Department

LOMPOC, Calif. – On Wednesday, traffic flowed across the completed and now open Floradale Avenue Bridge west of Lompoc.

The new bridge, constructed by MCM Construction, is 60 feet longer than its adjacent predecessor, hosts the same number of travel lanes, and features notable aesthetic enhancements including the stacked and stained rocks shown below.

The $19 million project was reimbursed by the Federal Highway Bridge Program for $17 million and included a local match of $2.2 million.

The original bridge was built in 1969 and was replaced due to seismic deficiencies. It is scheduled for demolition later this year.
