First cannabis dispensary opens in Santa Ynez Valley

SANTA YNEZ VALLEY, Calif - The first cannabis dispensary officially opened in the Santa Ynez Valley.

This is the third Farmacy location in Santa Barbara County.

A ribbon cutting was held at the new Farmacy dispensary located on 3576 Madera St

Farmacy is owned by Glass House Brands, a cannabis-growing company based in Carpinteria.

Glass House Brands also has Farmacy locations in Santa Barbara and Isla Vista.

Hannah Burchardi-Bowersox, the General Manager at the Santa Ynez location, says she never thought there would be a cannabis location in the valley.

"It's extremely overwhelming in a very beautiful way. It was a long, long process to get here. Nothing that I thought was ever possible, But we definitely did it."

Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors adopted a series of ordinances in February of 2018 to allow commercial cannabis operations within the County's unincorporated area.

Buchardi says the response from nearby businesses has been positive.

"It has been extreme open arms from our community to local business owners to, you know, our neighbors around here, too, which is extremely refreshing and rejuvenating .. it's amazing, they're very happy to have us here."

The store features products from Autumn, a Santa Barbara County grown cannabis company.
