Regal Edwards in Santa Maria has a busy Christmas weekend at the box office

SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- The Regal Edwards Theater at the Santa Maria Town Center had a busy Christmas weekend with people coming in to watch movies on the big screen.

Not much is open on Christmas day but some locals in Santa Maria said their holiday tradition is to go to the movies on Christmas day.

Many theaters across the country remain open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Some families said since the theater is always open on Christmas their families have made it into a holiday tradition.
