Electric vehicle owners charge up for holiday travel

SANTA MARIA, Calif.- Electric vehicle owners are charging up for some long distance holiday travel. As we are just days away from one of the biggest holidays of the year.

Tesla owners say they are saving money on gas by going electric for their holiday road trips.
Some still own gas powered vehicles - but say they chose to drive electric to not only save money but also to help the environment.

“I save a lot of money because electric cost compared to a fuel that goes up and down. This one stays on a lower rate," said Edwin Zelaya, a Tesla owner.

California gas prices have lowered in recent weeks but electric vehicle owners say they still prefer to get a full “supercharge” for free.
