ORCUTT, Calif.- The Oasis Senior Center in Orcutt is getting busier with dozens of new members signing up for its services.

But as the holiday season gets into full swing managers say more staff, instructors and members are out sick and it seems to be lasting longer than usual.

Managers are asking anyone with cold, covid-19 or flu symptoms to stay home until they know they're not contagious.

While ensuring everyone’s health and safety, the senior center has returned to doing all kinds of  holiday events.

"We know seniors need socializing we have groups and classes designed just for that mens coffee we have single men’s group and we encourage everyone to come and join," said Amy Lammert, Oasis Director of Program & Operations.

This season managers are seeing a higher demand for more services including transportation and food deliveries.

“Some of the demands we’ve had in transportation just getting to and from the center a lot of them don’t drive anymore so I’ve gotten a lot of calls about transportation  services and another thing is socialization within them we offer a lot of classes and events that bring out people in the community  and then our seniors as well and it just gets them together hangout and just  meeting people and jut socializing with them," said Aranya Lutz, Oasis Developmental Assistant.
