Pine Grove Elementary celebrates Class of 2020 with drive-thru graduation

ORCUTT, Calif. - Celebrations for 2020 graduates have been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and physical distancing restrictions, but still, many people are finding ways to make their moment special.

Graduates of Pine Grove Elementary School were celebrated with a drive-thru graduation.

This year, 100 sixth grade students graduated from the school.

The celebratory parade not only gave these students a chance to be honored for their accomplishments, but it also gave teachers a chance to say goodbye as well as return their items left behind.

Cars drove through the line-up in the parking lot, as teachers and staff waved and smiled.

A balloon arch offered a photo opportunity for students without getting out of their cars.

Congratulatory signs were also displayed to create this special send-off.

This is the first Orcutt school to do a drive-thru graduation. Each school will be holding their own starting June 1 and through June 11.
