Santa Maria High Schools honor students joining the military

052620 SM MILITARY STOLES

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Students from Santa Maria High Schools who will serve our country were honored during a special ceremony on Tuesday night.

It was held at Righetti High School. The district says 60 graduating seniors will join the Navy, Air Force, and Marines. They received stoles from their recruiters to wear over their gowns.

One senior says he's the first generation in his family to join the Marines. "It means a lot you know like being the first person in it," says Senior Roberto Salazar. "So I don't really know what to expect but I'm prepared."

This is the first year the Santa Maria High Schools have joined forces to honor the seniors.
