MLS player, Lompoc native donates food to Lompoc urgent care clinic
LOMPOC, Calif. - A former Lompoc High School soccer star who is living his dream at the professional level is giving back to his hometown community.
Julian Araujo is a defender for Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy. On Friday he provided the staff at Dignity Health Urgent Care in Lompoc with lunch.
He said he wanted to give back to the health care workers in Lompoc to thank them for their tireless work during the pandemic.
Araujo said he is grateful to his hometown for the support he has received from the community throughout his career, and especially during the difficult period when his father was being treated for cancer.
“When my dad went through cancer treatments recently, the community of Lompoc reached out to my family in many ways and helped us through the tough times,” said Araujo in a press release from Dignity. “I’ve always wanted to give back, so this is a small treat to say thanks to health care workers in my hometown.”
The 18-year-old, who was born and raised in Lompoc, was unable to deliver the food himself because he's currently training with the Galaxy in Los Angeles. But his mother helped coordinate the delivery, Dignity officials said.
Polly Baldwin, Clinic Supervisor at Dignity Health Urgent Care in Lompoc, said the staff and employees were very thankful for Araujo's "generous and thoughtful act of human kindness.”
