Lompoc voters to decide on new sales tax

LOMPOC, Calif. - Lompoc voters are getting ready to decide on Measure I just as the City of Santa Maria prepares its summary of Measure U at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

The measure will ask voters to decide whether the city of Lompoc should raise its sales tax by 1%.

This would increase the tax from 7.75% to 8.75%.

The increased sales tax would boost declining revenue as major expenses loom ahead.

Given the success the city of Santa Maria has had with measure U, Lompoc city leaders are hoping to replicate the similar effects with Measure I.
